Krista + Dayton {Vegreville Wedding Photographer}

On May 31 my older brother, Dayton, & his fiance, Krista, got married in Vegreville. This was also our first wedding of 2014!

Dayton & Krista’s wedding was definitely one of a kind. From the unique lantern in place of bouquets, to the gorgeous succulent center pieces, to the REAL cheese wedding cake, to the homemade favors, to the paper lanterns that illuminated the hall; the details fit their theme perfectly! I especially loved the bridesmaid’s vintage green polka-dot dresses which beautifully complemented the groomsman’s tan suits. Krista’s brass knuckle/skull clutch also went well with Dayton’s wooden baton which again…suited the modern take on the vintage theme.

Lisa spent the morning with the guys at my parent’s place while I shot the girls getting ready at Krista’s parents place just down the block. The ceremony was held outside the historic train station building which served as the perfect backdrop for their wedding. We photographed the wedding party around the old red brick buildings downtown & later took the bride & groom to our new favorite local outdoor spot, that we scouted out the day before, for photos of just the newlyweds. Lisa and I both went crazy for the stunning scenery, great lighting and a bride and groom with not your typical attire. These ones are some of our favorite shots yet!

At first, we were reluctant when Dayton told me they were planning to host the reception at the local Elks Hall, a small outdated local venue, for their wedding. However, after stepping into the beautifully decorated hall we immediately changed our minds. I was completely blown away by the awesome decorations & how the hanging paper lanterns completely disguised the old tacky decor in the hall. Knowing my brother, I should have expected such extravagance being the stubborn detail-freak that he is. It was definitely the nicest I’ve ever seen it and the intimate space housed the 60+ people at the wedding perfectly.
