If you’ve followed us for quite some time and read the majority of our wedding blogs, surely you know that sometimes Davin writes them and sometimes I write them. Really, it just depends who gets a spare minute first or if one of us has something special or specific about the day that we want to share. On Saturday, July 29th we followed Danielle and Nathaniel Nagy around on their first day as husband and wife and had a really wonderful time with them. A few weeks later Davin sends me a text that says “wanna write the blog post for the Nagy wedding? Keep it brief and focus on eggs Benedict, the vintage theme and swing music” to which I replied, ‘sure, but I didn’t even have the eggs Benedict!” and all he said back was “soooooo good!”
So yes, when Davin and I met up at the ceremony and got to share all the details of our morning he just couldn’t get passed how good the eggs Benedict was that Nathaniel’s parents, Kathi and Kevin, insist he eat while shooting the guys that morning. So THANK YOU, Kathi and Kevin, for setting the bar SO high that I never have to learn how to make them because I already know mine won’t come close to your legendary brunch.
Davin’s breakfast thrill was just the beginning of a day filled with firsts for him and I. It was the first time we shot a wedding in Camrose, the first time we visited the local Museum, the first time seeing dance lessons offered at a wedding and the first time we saw a couple tear up the dance floor with the best swing dance either of us had ever seen. It was also the first time we got to meet Danielle and Nathaniel, one of the most poised, kind and loving couples we’ve had the pleasure of photographing. Their wedding was reflective of the 1940’s, made up of the most perfect details in the attire and decor. The air was filled with 40’s music and dancing feet continually traipsed across the dance floor which kept everyone laughing and entertained. Love and laughter followed Danielle, Nathaniel and their families the whole day through and we were so happy to have been there to witness and capture it.
Delivering this wedding package was especially sweet for Davin and I as Danielle’s parents shared with me that morning that their own wedding photos were lost in the mail over 30 years ago. Their prints and the negatives were shipped in one package and they were lost and never recovered. I was heartbroken hearing that (and even more cautious of our CF cards that day than usual!). Davin and I hope these images bring back memories of your own wedding day and will serve to last Danielle and Nathanial a lifetime of picture-perfect memories!
